چکیده

We present two-dimensional numerical simulations of gravitational collapse of a rotating cloud. The collaping cloud forms a dynamically contracting disk. The disk structure can be well reproduced by a similarity solution. The similarity solution has only two parameters, the sound speed (cs) and the ratio of the speci c angular momentum to the mass (!). The disk mass is independent of the mass of the parent cloud and depeds weekly on the initial rotation speed of the cloud. We discuss the self-organization mechanism in the disk formation.

Gravitational Collapse of Isothermal Magnetized Clouds: Universality of Self-similar Collapse

We study dynamical collapse of isothermal magnetized clouds with two-dimensional axisymmetric numerical simulations. As a model of the cloud, we consider an innnitely long lamentary cloud with longitudinal magnetic eld. An initial model is constructed by adding an axisymmetric perturbation on an equilibrium model. Because of gravitational instability, it fragments into magnetically supercritica...

General relativistic hydrodynamics with viscosity: contraction, catastrophic collapse, and disk formation in hypermassive neutron stars

Viscosity and magnetic fields drive differentially rotating stars toward uniform rotation, and this process has important consequences in many astrophysical contexts. For example, merging binary neutron stars can form a “hypermassive” remnant, i.e. a differentially rotating star with a mass greater than would be possible for a uniformly rotating star. The removal of the centrifugal support prov...

Constraints on the Formation and Evolution of Circumstellar Disks in Rotating Magnetized Cloud Cores

We use magnetic collapse models to place some constraints on the formation and angular momentum evolution of circumstellar disks which are embedded in magnetized cloud cores. Previous models have shown that the early evolution of a magnetized cloud core is governed by ambipolar diffusion and magnetic braking, and that the core takes the form of a nonequilibrium flattened envelope which ultimate...

Star Formation in Isolated Disk Galaxies. I. Models and Characteristics of Nonlinear Gravitational Collapse

We model gravitational collapse leading to star formation in a wide range of isolated disk galaxies using a three-dimensional, smoothed particle hydrodynamics code. The model galaxies include a dark matter halo and a disk of stars and isothermal gas. Absorbing sink particles are used to directly measure the mass of gravitationally collapsing gas. They reach masses characteristic of stellar clus...

Similarity Solution for Formation of Circumstellar Disk through the Collapse of a Rotating Cloud

We present similarity solutions which describe the runaway collapse of a rotating isothermal cloud and its subsequent inside-out collapse. The similarity solutions contain the sound speed, c s , and the ratio of the speci c angular momentum to the mass, !, as model parameters. During the runaway collapse, the surface density of the disk is nearly constant in the central part and inversely propo...
